As one of my friends said recently: “The best way to survive a Czech winter is to embrace it and get out into the snow.”
As non-skiiers, this is a little harder for us than it is for many people. But determined to see more of the Czech Republic—even though it was (until recently) winter—we looked for a nearby getaway and booked ourselves a night at a (dog friendly!) lodge in Špindlerův Mlýn.
That lodge is the Resort Sv. Frantisek – Erlebachova a Josefova bouda and if you are looking for a short getaway from Prague, I highly recommend it. There’s good skiing nearby (or so I’ve been told) but more importantly if you are traveling en famille as we do, the sledding hill is right across the street and there is a restaurant with good food and not one but two kids’ corners inside. This convenience is key when you are traveling with a toddler who has a fifteen minute attention span. With everything right there it didn’t matter that it took fifteen minutes to get dressed or undressed. {wink}
